Greetings,
My name is Tom Chaffee and I am the president of the Gamma Epsilon chapter of Beta Theta Pi. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to check out our website. We truly have something special here in Manhattan and we would love to share it with you. Whether you are a parent, alumni, prospective member, or friend, you are welcome to stop by our beautiful house on Sunset Avenue!
There has been a question of fraternal relevance floating around college campuses. What is the point of fraternities? Are they relevant? Do they accomplish anything worthwhile? Why do we still have fraternities? We are committed to changing the image of fraternities, starting here in Manhattan. We truly strive to recruit good men and make them better. If someone comes through our house unchanged, then we have failed. My experience here in this house has changed my life for the better. Having a community of brothers challenging me and holding me accountable has helped me push myself. The focus on grades, the focus on responsibility, the focus on friendship.
My dad always told me that college is the best time of your life. But it has also been the toughest transition of my life. You only get a few years to grow up, to become a man. You have to seize every opportunity you have. When I leave this house, I will know how to act responsibly, I will know how to live with people different than me, and I will be prepared for the next phase of my life.
"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us" Gandalf

Brother of the Month - May 2010 |
|
Grant Hill has been selected for this week's Brother of the Week award because of his great representation of Beta as a recently elected Student Senator. Brother Hill is a great asset to the house and can always be seen at 500 Sunset, particularly in the backyard working on his jumpshot. |
